The Washington Capitals are arguably the most inscrutable team in the NHL.
Just when it seems like they are down and out – whether it be in a game or for the entire season – the Caps find a way to inspire faith. Tuesday against the New York Islanders, Washington did both.
Washington has been making a habit of making spirited comebacks lately; against the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday, the Caps scored the game-tying goal with less than four minutes left before winning 3-2 in overtime. Against those same Islanders two weeks ago, they rallied from 2-0 down late in the third period to also win 3-2 in overtime. Sandwiched in between those comebacks, however, were several disappointing losses that could have proven fatal, but through those disappointments has come rebirth; for the first time in over two months, the Caps have won four straight games. It does not matter when you gel. All that matters is that you gel.
No amount of words can adequately describe the confusing, yet invigorating play that the Caps have possessed as of late, so just enjoy the mystery.
